Financial planners and wealth managers provide value after your business is sold or may be able to assist with financial guidance if you are buying a business. Just like finding the right attorney or accountant, make sure you find a financial planner or wealth manager that makes you feel comfortable with your goals and how they communicate with you.

Equally important, make sure the financial planner works in the area that matches the reason you want to hire them.  It doesn’t make sense to hire a financial planner that specializes in share investing or insurance products if you need help advising how to invest the proceeds from the sale of your business.
